Vapor Phase Soldering The Secret to Perfect Boards

Vapor Phase Soldering The Secret to Perfect Boards

Vapor Phase Soldering (VPS) is like a secret weapon for fixing a problem every PCB designer hates: boards that don't heat up evenly.

If you have ever pulled a board out of a standard oven and seen a large metal part that is still cold while the tiny resistors next to it are almost burnt, you know the struggle. This happens because standard ovens blow hot air, and different parts soak up that heat at different speeds. VPS fixes this using physics.

How It Works

The idea is actually very cool. Instead of using hot air, you lower the board into a thick cloud of vapor. This vapor comes from boiling a special liquid called Galden.

Think of Galden like water, but it’s designed to boil at a very specific temperature (usually around 240°C). When you lower your board into this vapor, the vapor "wraps" …
